OPERA CLEVELAND ROCKS!

The end of this summer has me saying Aloha to Hawaii and hello to Cleveland!

While I'm clearly going to miss diving off catamarans into crystal blue waters and swimming with turtles (and before you ask, yes, I did actually get work done in Hawaii) I truly think I'm going to like it here in Cleveland based on the welcome I've already received. I mean, in my welcome packet there were Oreos and toilet paper! Woohoo!

The apartment the company is putting me up in is wonderful! The building has a gym and a rooftop patio! I can get buff and toned and have cocktails after... which reminds me...I need more limes.

The administration staff of Opera Cleveland is amazing! I love the laid back but purely professional atmosphere they've generated. Opera Cleveland also has a chicken on staff, so how bad can this place be? I got to meet Carl the Chicken when he made rounds through the production office to check on my prep progress. Of course, when I pointed out that Carl is actually a rooster, I was told that Opera Cleveland can't have a mascot called Carl the Cock. So, I made the acquaintance of Carl the Chicken.

I must have made an impression because he blogged about me.

Check it out!

I'm currently sitting in our first chorus music rehearsal for "Le nozze di Figaro". I have to admit, there are worse things than sitting in a room with my own private opera chorus singing for me while I continue to cram as much prep paperwork as I can in to a day.

The chorus sounds wonderful, especially for such a small chorus...only 12 in this one. They were all very accepting of me and my newness. We'll see how it goes as the shiny rubs off.

I think that's it for now. Back to the endless world of paperwork. Besides, it makes me look busy and important.
